Another day, every other string of tweets from President Donald Trump.
This time, celebrities lent their voices to the fray to shield the topic of Trump’s ire: San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz.
On Saturday morning, the president lashed out at Cruz after she stated the government’s reaction to the humanitarian disaster in hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico was once now not “a good news story.” In a couple of tweets, Trump known as the mayor “nasty” and criticized her “poor leadership ability.”
“Actually, I was asking for help,” she spoke back hours later, in an interview with MSNBC. “I wasn’t saying anything nasty about the president.”
But a slew of well-known faces had already begun protecting Cruz and venting their frustrations with Trump’s reaction to the disaster in Puerto Rico, the place an enormous swath of the inhabitants stays with out water or electrical energy.
“You’re going straight to hell,” Lin-Manuel Miranda temporarily shot again over Twitter, proceeding his complaint in a sequence of tweets.
“Disgusted,” George Takei wrote.
“I think it’s clear where the ‘poor leadership’ lies,” Lady Gaga added.
After Trump later lashed out on the media, telling “the people of Puerto Rico” to not “believe the #FakeNews,” Kim Kardashian close him down in a single tweet: “They don’t have power to watch the news!!!” she wrote. “Please step up & help!”
